Here is a selection of the most frequently asked questions:

Q: What is the difference between spearmint and peppermint oil?

A: Alhough they both belong to the mint family, we are talking about two different plants here. They each have a different look, different smell, different chemical make-up. But they also have a lot in common; both are antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic. We use spearmint for the warming, relaxing and soothing working. Ideal to use in bathwater in winter, to warm muscles, and flavoring.

Peppermint has the cooling, energizing and uplifting properties, due to the menthol in the oil and is commonly used for arthritis (improves circulation), headaches and pain.

Q: Can I use mint oil for my pets?

A: Absolutely. The oil is safe to use on pets, just as it is on humans, though generally in smaller amounts. Use it to treat cuts, scrapes and hot spots. Add it to their bathwater or shampoo to scare away fleas or spray it mixed with water on their coats for a good smelling dog!

Mix it with a tablespoon of olive oil to clean ears.

Q: Can mint oil help me to get rid of mice and ants in my house?

A: Yes. Soak cottonballs with peppermint oil and place these in corners, or in places where critters enter the house. Repeat as needed.
