Have you ever heard of Triclosan? This is an active ingredient in many personal and household hygiene products such as toothpaste. Triclosan, an antibacterial chemical and was first introduced as a pesticide in 1969. It has been incorporated in consumer products for more than 30 years, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A CDC study has found triclosan present in the urine of 75% of the people tested. Minnesota’s Gov. Mark Dayton recently signed a bill legalizing a measure banning triclosan-containing products in the state. The law will go into effect January 1, 2017. Diet-sage.com‘s recent article states, “In 2011 the House Rules Committee requested that the FDA put in place a complete ban of the dangerous chemical based on several significant issues”. “The House Rules Committee also stated that the over-use of antibacterial agents was promoting widespread bacterial resistance which was cause for great concern”. (Read article Here) I like to use Peppermint Jim’s mint essential oil in place of toothpaste! I get my toothbrush wet first and add 1 drop of the oil and brush. Leaves your teeth feeling so clean and minty fresh breath!
